british artist, charlie mackesy has found that etching his way through life has helped bring some sort of metaphysical clarity.
charlie says: “if you look at the paintings, a fair proportion seem to have some kind of angel or spiritual thing going on. I’m aware that this may seem a little odd . . . I’m [...]

making a postlerferguston paper AK-47 turned out to be one of the largest projects i’ve undertaken. foolishly believing it would take around two hours to slap together i got stuck in but was soon daunted by the thousands of lines before me. each line either needed to be criped, cut, scored and folded with great [...]

when she’s not badgering my colleagues and i to meet work deadlines, katharine rowe creates beautiful collages. mixing her own photography and (i presume) stock shots and/or magazine cuttings she creates textured scenes of juxtaposition, reinterpreting our everyday lived space.
she also takes commisions, to create a unique work incorporating family photos, your own street, pets…

practicing what he preaches, teacher of digital imaging at Columbia College in Chicago, Matt Siber certainly knows how to use photoshop.
either that or he’s been witness to some fantastical happenings as he travels around middle american petrol stations.
taking bright convinence store signage, and largely removing their context Siber creates new relationships between brands and their [...]

a self professed ‘master of pens’, mr bingo loiters around my native hood of Shoreditch. he’s got an amazing range of work with a quirky illustrative style. my faves are these ‘hair portraits’. capturing the true essence of a person through just their ‘do’.
you can also purchase a limited edition run of the mighty boosh [...]

scanwitch: sectional scans of sandwiches “for education and delight”. total genius. the open scanner lid creates a natural black space and gentle fade out.

move over wimbledon, and the australian open. it’s all about layer tennis.
so this is the crux: two designers battle it out. Starting with one file a designer is given 15 minutes to embellish it with extra images, flash elements, audio, whatever… the file is then be ‘volleyed’ back for their opponent to give it their [...]

collaborative painters daryoush asgar and elisabeth gabriel create scenes of biblical proportions.
mashing together religious iconography, hedonistic hyper-sexualised party scenes, pseudo-realistic paintings and garish neon scrawlings. the finished product, as you can see is fucking beautiful.
anna thinks it’s a bit like an ad for skins, i think it’s a bit like mgmt’s film clip for time [...]

annie has created a series of painted artworks titled “vamps & innocents”. her little lightly executed ditties of various old fashioned beauties are instantly gratifying to look at and quaint, but what lies beneath these portraits is quite heavy subject matter. annie explains:
“My paintings reflect my [...]

here is quirky and kooky jewelry that looks like it’s been handmade whilst wearing a great big smile: it’s golden chains, bracelets and rings from ping ping prop and they are totally original!

IKEA are the master of disguises. In the showrooms they make every space functional, every sized living room seems livable, and the exit seems just around the corner. They also make the meatballs and hotdogs quite palatable, pure Scandinavian witchcraft.
these photographs/installations/sculptures perhaps highlight the feeling of an insignificant consumer when traversing across their cavernous halls.
