Ricky Swallow, model for a sunken monument

I think Ricky Swallow was the first artist that really made me go, ‘yowsers, that’s super awesome’.
It was his Model for a sunken monument (1999) that caught my eye. obviously I loved the pop culture star wars reference, but i think it was the unseen or implied back story that drew me in.

I have dreams to re-create this entirely out of lego. one day…
