gucci by gucci girls: the look of what?
over the weekend, i commented to tomagotchi that i was not really sure of what the faces of fashion advertisements are trying to say to me anymore. in the 80’s it was usually optimism! buy! in the nineties it was often discontented oblivion and angst. the noughties…? below, is an ad for gucci by gucci perfume and the models freia, natascha and raquel seems to be throwing some rather obscure messages my way.
is this the look of:
a) scathing contempt?
b) “i’m the hottest at this here party. why don’t you go home! ”
c) judging by the lack of signs of life in the eyes she’s merely a mannequin with a loose neck screw.

is this the look of:
a) fleeting guilt.
b) (breathlessly) “i don’t go out without my gucci by gucci!”
c) does this bottle make my bum look big, or are you going to crop it out anyway?

and MOST confusing of all..
a) cold-blooded, cold-brained hatred?
b) “this is coming atcha head, bitch.”
c) a diabetic given an over-sized perfume prop instead of a mars bar.
