Hedi Slimane for Vogue Hommes Japan

Hedi Slimane is one of my favorite photographers. This is an editorial he shot for the very first Vogue Hommes Japan issue in July 2008.

I vividly remember seeing this editoral in Tokyo whilst killing some time in the basement at La Foret shopping mall (worth checking out if in Tokyo) and just thinking ‘WOW’.

wow.

Absolutely stunning. My favorite is the second one from the bottom, on the left, with the samurai helmet. Delicate, sensual male beauty wrapped and shrouded in powerful martial symbols of masculinity. If only our western culture embraced such imagery as an effective way to sell products to straight women such as myself!
