I love birds; those fluttery, flappy fellows of flight. In their natural form they come in a zillion different shapes and colours – pass those variations through the creative prism of man, and BOOM you’ve got a whole flock of wonderously beautifully creations.
I guess that’s the idea behind the vogelsang blog. or perhaps it’s curator, [...]

The professionally named Alastair T. Willey sent us some shots to feature in this week’s triptych Tuesday.
When I first recieved them, I wasn’t sure – too much negative space, too dark, too ethereal. But, like a good album that takes time to become aquanted and find the nuances – these shots have warmed [...]

We post stuff all the time. new stuff. cool stuff that we’ve specially selected from the worlds amazingly large volume of stuff that’s a bit crap. we find the cool stuff, write about it and post it on here.
The good news for you is that you can keep up to date through the magic of [...]

We love it when people get in touch with us and our little website. We especially love it when those people are creative types who make amazingly wonderfully beautiful creations that just make us burst with smiles.
Shen Plum is one such creative peep. I guess I was captivated by the simplicity & narrative that she [...]

the ark project is genius.
210 artists, illustrators and creative types from across the globe were selected to ’save’ one animal that’s native to their own land. Illustrators include our faves http://www.joshkeyes.com/ and Shen Plum (who’s interview we’ll hopefully be featuring soon!)
each animal drawing has been published in this printed ‘ark’ book by DGPH, complete with [...]

had maths class contained that insight i may have taken notice. this poster by Vuk Vidor goes to show how difficult it is for artists to find their niche when they’ve all been claimed. when duchamp owns everything you’re kinda stuck huh.

I’ve just spent the afternoon wandering from bar to bar trying to track down a copy of station magazine. Apparently issue 3 is in the wild, and it would seem that an article written by yours truly features in it.
The subject matter of said article is the morbid accessories created by Reid Peppard under the [...]

Another thing that i like more than art that looks like one thing but is actually another, is art that transforms and grows over time. I like it especially so if it involves user interaction in a way that is unusual, yet not entirely unfamiliar.

When I was in year 4, a cooler, richer friend had the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Blimp. Playing at his house filled me with a mix of blissful enjoyment and seething jealousy. The superficial kid that I was, it wasn’t long before I was playing at his house purely for the blimp – he sensed [...]

The Haiti earthquake was clearly a horrible, horrible event. But it did, yet again give regular apathetic individuals and governments a well needed kick to realise that they’re not the only ones on earth.
It’s heartening to see loads of artists and individuals getting together to organise their own events and fundraisers for the cause.
It also [...]

flow diagrams make everything so obvious. They cut all the clutter out, take away that dastardly personal thing called ‘emotion’ and present you back with clear cut options and their subsequent outcomes.
For anyone who’s starting 2010 a little unsure of themselves, and not quite as chippy chappy as you’d hope, take a peek at this [...]

I think this is the house for me. equal parts ewok-tree-village-from-star-wars, and 2001: a space odyssey.
This building was created by Robert Harvey Oshatz for the Wilkinson family in Portland Oregon. A futuristic mess which seemingly winds and tumbles like the tree canopy in which it invades. Magical.

We like email. We also like being able to help spread the word about young upstarts who are starting on their mission to get real paid. This is how I came across Scott Nellis, a Brighton based artist/illustrator who shot me a link-laden email a while back to promote his wares.
Nellis’ work isn’t something that [...]
