who ever said we needed a new black? black is always and forever the only black you’ll ever need.
and as demonstrated by the cool and lovely giorgia, as snapped by frenchie’s finest garance dore, black-eyeliner never really dates. the smudgier the better.

i suspect the author of park&cube blog never intended her nails to get so much attention from her readers!
they show up every now and again in her clever little magazine style fashion stories, like little flirty birds at the beginning of spring and flit off again, but they’re back a couple of posts later, with [...]

lines are nice. they’re clear, clean, and well… straight.
nature is beautiful. it’s unpredictable, messy and well… natural. i love

gabriel moreno’s card landed on my desk this morning, so i thought i’d look him up and i am delighted i did. and what i found via his website were some graceful line illustrations that inspired me to get back in to drawing. the spanish illustrator’s work is pretty stunning. there’s nothing like black and [...]

Korean artist JeongMee Yoon explores colour trends and cultural preferences in her ongoing work “The Pink and Blue Projects”.
in her own words: “The Pink and Blue Projects were initiated by my five-year-old daughter, who loves the color pink so much that she wanted to wear only pink clothes and play with only pink toys and [...]

like something invented in willie wonka’s factory, Anna Piaggi’s tastes are unabashedly artistic and playful, expressing herself via her extensive collection of haute couture. the italian fashion writer and style icon brings charm and exuberance together to create one big clashing masterpiece.

this week i went to see the rothko exhibition at london’s tate modern. to me, rothko was the inspiration for fabric patterns favoured in the 80’s as seen on ties, carpets and over-sized shirts with shoulder pads, his framed A3 prints in dull offices and 3 star hotels. block colours? i just didn’t get it. [...]

this is some of the work from london-based graphic designer and illustrator, Nikki Farquharson.
her ongoing project, Mixed Media Girls, gives the viewer a lot to look at and a bit of a headache, if you’ve been out the night before. bright, colourful, eclectic and totally girl-friendly these images are pretty sharp and look like they were [...]

neon & photos = yes please
I just stumbled across this amazing form of photography. a step forward from placing leaves on photo paper to develop silhouettes. and a big step forward from punks drawing pentagrams with cigarette lighters during band photo sessions.
Dean Chamberlain creates some amazing images using extremely long exposures in sessions that can [...]

little bit of lighthearted humour for a Sunday. I found this on Philippa Rice’s blog, she’s got some very sweet and witty illustrations and stuffs. exhibit A: my cardboard life. Nice bright colours too, which always helps.

I like nature. especially when it’s ordered and segmented and categorised.. ok, so maybe i’m not exactly a purist. but this lovely site, naturally, presents images of leaves, butterflies, veggies and the like.
the best bit is the key at the bottom. sometimes you need some white space to truly appreciate natural simplicity.

winter = grey. black. navy… and more grey. basically, the dark shades of death. you’d be delighted right now if you had goth tendencies.
spring = new life! According to Pantone (the colour-regulating headquarters of the world), next year’s colour is Mimosa or, PANTONE® 14-0848!
and it makes my heart skip a beat! it’s the colour of [...]

I passed this guy at a stall while walking with lady Worthington around Spitalfields market. Unfortunately I couldn’t afford to purchase it, but I got the postcard, it was free = bargain. Sadly I doubt it’ll appreciate quite as much when the artist dies.
