this week i went to see the rothko exhibition at london’s tate modern. to me, rothko was the inspiration for fabric patterns favoured in the 80’s as seen on ties, carpets and over-sized shirts with shoulder pads, his framed A3 prints in dull offices and 3 star hotels. block colours? i just didn’t get it.
