Triptych Tuesday: Alastair T. Willey

The professionally named Alastair T. Willey sent us some shots to feature in this week’s triptych Tuesday. When I first recieved them, I wasn’t sure – too much negative space, too dark, too ethereal. But, like a good album that takes time to become aquanted and find the nuances – these shots have warmed [...] posted: March 2nd, 2010 | by: tomagotchi | perma: link | tags: , , , | 1 Comment »

The dark art of gardening

You might cop a few stares being a green thumb after dark. However, any fashion photography that has been executed in a way that is as good as the concept itself, is a winner in my book. This is a great shoot for Vogue by photographer: Raymond Meier and fashion stylist: Elissa Santisi. Hedi Slimane for Vogue Hommes Japan

Hedi Slimane is one of my favorite photographers. This is an editorial he shot for the very first Vogue Hommes Japan issue in July 2008. I vividly remember seeing this editoral in Tokyo whilst killing some time in the basement at La Foret shopping mall (worth checking out if in Tokyo) and just thinking ‘WOW’. wow. Hermes Winter Campaign

I’ve been showcasing a lot of spring summer 2010 lately, because to be honest I get a little sidetracked by all the new shiny stuff. However, Hermes managed to gain my attention very quickly with this very very sleek winter campaign shot in Scandinavia. London Snow

With the temperature being a face-numbing -5 this morning and the paths and ice-skating rink, I feel a snow post is called for. And here is a beautiful, warm scene that doesn’t make me feel all brrrrrrr… instead, it makes me feel all  ahhhhh….. x photographer: angelocesare, via flickr Share posted: January 7th, 2010 | by: lady worthington | perma: link | tags: , , , | No Comments »

Alice in wonderland, waterworld edition

“Nothing is working the same way as in the ground. It’s like you are in another dimension. But this is why it is so interesting…” – Elena Kalis I absolutely adore these photos. the crispness, the technical proficiency, the sheer playfulness of a wonderous story portrayed in the underwater realm. I love the way she uses [...] posted: January 6th, 2010 | by: tomagotchi | perma: link | tags: , , , , | 2 Comments »

James Chronister, a monochrome dream

I know we’ve been though this, but I do really like stuff that looks like one thing but is actually another. I hope it’s not some kinda self-deception fetish that Ive stumbled upon. Nevertheless, bathe in these wonderous oil paintings by jameschronister. I love the way they feel like ye-olde sepia photographs, plucked from the 1800’s. Allow me to introduce myself…….

The very lovely Lady Worthington and Tomagotchi have been extremely kind to let me contribute to their beautiful eclectic mix of something we might like. As a stylist by trade I am more of a visual person; my prolific writing obsession ended at age 8 not long after receiving my pen licence. What a waste. park & cube accessorises with cute nails!

i suspect the author of park&cube blog never intended her nails to get so much attention from her readers! they show up every now and again in her clever little magazine style fashion stories, like little flirty birds at the beginning of spring and flit off again, but they’re back a couple of posts later, with [...] posted: December 3rd, 2009 | by: lady worthington | perma: link | tags: , , , , , , , , , , , , | No Comments »

Cole Rise – hovering over a desolate landscape

Lady Worthington was telling me last night that I have a definite style of art that I’m drawn to. Things that: Look like one thing but is actually another Have  a level of depth and skill involved, perceived or otherwise A sense of foreboding; a general feel of unease Not too decorative, something that looks ‘artful’ That’s by an artist [...] posted: November 30th, 2009 | by: tomagotchi | perma: link | tags: , , , , , | No Comments »
